Rowan Class - Year 1 and 2
Welcome to Rowan class!
We are the Year 1/2 class at Ingham Primary School. This year, we will be studying a range of exciting topics in our lessons: Space, China, Ice Explorers, Ice Worlds, Mapping and Castles. We will be enhancing our Autumn term learning with a visit from StarLincs Mobile Planetarium where the children will be fully immersed into the fascinating world of space. In Spring, Mr Pringle will be joining us to share his stories and experiences about his exciting adventures around the world and finally, in Summer, we will be concluding our learning with a visit to the Lincoln Castle as we find out all about our local history, including the Magna Carta and William the Conqueror. Linked to these topics, we will be reading some engaging texts, including The Darkest Dark, Shackleton’s Journey, Lost and Found and George’s Marvellous Medicine.
Reminders
- Our homework is set on Friday and is due back in on Wednesday. This is usually five spellings based on the year 1 & 2 common exception words and the first 100 high frequency words.
- Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Pupils should come to school in their PE kit on both days – please note that only stud earrings are allowed and must be covered in earring tape for our PE lessons and that long hair is tied up.
- We encourage children to read their reading book every day and to log on to Numbots to enhance their mathematical understanding. Please encourage your child to bring their reading book and diary to school every day.
Keep up-to-date with our learning progress on our Class Dojo blog.
